As another reviewer has stated, this will not work well with most cases on an iPhone5. I modified mine by grinding away the "shoulders" next to the lightning connector. Unfortunately, after doing this, the lightning connector fell out. A bit of super-glue and a few hours later, and I now have a charger that works with my phone while still in the case (Picture added to review 2015-12-06). So the end product for me is great, but I would have much-preferred a design that did not require modifications to do what I wanted. One other minor gripe -- it was not obvious to me at all (did I miss it in the instructions?) how to turn it off. A friend showed me that you press the button short once, and it illuminates some lights to show charge level, then before those go out, press and hold the button until you see 4, 3, 2, 1, 0 lights. It is now off.I've been hesitant to buy a battery case because I really only need it a couple of times a year, and most battery cases are hard to install and remove frequently. (I have no idea why someone would want to buy an expensive phone designed to feel good in the hand and then wrap it in ugly cheap plastic.)But this clever design is easy to attach when you need it. And after it arrived I realized one very important feature about it: I won't have to buy a new case every time I get a new iPhone. That's a huge win. The manufacturer claims they'll have adapters for other phones as well. We shall see how long it stays charged--that's big issue with batteries you only use occasionally-- and if it holds up well it'll get another star later.I love the idea behind this product - we all know that iPhone 5 battery life is terrible. The reason it is so bad is that it is such a thin, lightweight phone. Putting an external battery would turn this light phone into a heavy phone. Enter this device, which means that you only need to carry the weight of an extra battery when you actually need the extra battery life. Most importantly, you just attach the battery to an existing case, and not have to deal with the hassle/risks of taking cases on and off all the time.Well, it was a great idea. The suction cups work really well. The battery seems to work, and the design looks nice. You know what they forgot to do? Make the lightning connector long enough to go through that case!Yup, everything worked perfectly until I tried to actually plug my phone in through the case - the lightning connector just isn't long enough to make a connection when you have a case on the phone.I'll give it 2 stars instead of one because it would work well if you didn't have a case on the phone.Functionally, this product does what it says it will do. Logistically, I think I will be searching for something else.First, the lightning connector is too short to fit thru even the slimmest of cases. So, you are forced to carry your phone unprotected while you are using the charger. The suction cups tend to slide around on your bare phone.Someone else suggested buying the micro usb version and adding a micro-usb to lightning connector to lengthen the reach of this case and allow it to be used with a cased phone. I think this is the way to go if you are going to use this product.I've been watching this product for a while since it seemed like a way I could get a rugged waterproof case like Lifeproof or Otter but also get additional (and necessary) battery power. I read all the warnings about people who couldn't get the tip through their case, but the learned - directly from Powerskin - that they had an extended tip available! But, sorry to say, that tip still isn't long enough for either my Lifeproof nor for my Otterbox case. But there are things we can do there, if we can just get the right cable, it's micro-usb out of the battery, then lighting in to the iPhone.Oh, and the doors on the Otterbox an Lifeproof cases that protect the lightning port? They're hinged to go back, meaning that a battery on the backside needs a MUCH longer tip.My big problem is that the suction cups are very specific to the glassy surface of the iPhone. It won't stick to my cases, which was sort of the whole idea of this thing in the first place! (For $15, Skinit sold me a decal sticker for the Lifeproof case, and the battery DOES stick to that.)I was hopeful with this. I saw there were some reviews that were awesome, and some saying the product was useless. It was supposed to hold more charge than the mophie for $10 so I went for it....- It didn't work with my iPhone (no case on) i had to pull the phone away from the charger for it to even work- Once I did that it lasted for maybe 2 minutes before saying "This device may not be supported" and stopped charging- The battery power of the charger lasted maybe a day before the whole thing died- The suction cups don't suck!! The phone slides all over (not that it matters because its not charging anyways)I gave it a shot but its not worth it. Im now gonna spend the money to buy something Ive had before and I know works. However my sister has this (got it for free at coachella) and it completely works for her. Maybe they just have inconsistent manufacturing? My favorite iPhone 5s case is the Seidio Surface. From looking at the Pop'n online it seemed it should work with this case because of the full cutout at the case bottom. It fits well and the suction cups attach to the case. As an added bonus I can even still use the holster for the Surface with the charger attached. I didn't expect that. I can't comment on long term use at this point, but in the short term the charger works well and with my case and holster. So far I'm happy with this purchase.Hardly holds a charge, but I'm pretty sure this item was discontinued so I'm not sure if it's due to an out of date battery. It gives my iPhone 7 plus a little bit of extra life in a pinch so it's still borderline useful I suppose. Takes a really long time to register as "full" as well.
